I have a Linksys WPC54G pcmcia adapter in my laptop.
BROADCOM DRIVER FOR LINKSYS WMP54G DRIVERS
inf file from the XP driver without adding some entries, and even then at a moderate distance from the router the connection was dropped so frequently as to be unusable could not register an IP address.I got my Linksys wireless adapter working on Ubuntu and LinuxMint using the native Linux drivers (without resorting to ndiswrapper).

On 64 bit system, native support with brcmfmac for this chipset did not work. The Windows driver shows that it has the RTL8187B chipset. Works fine with Lucid once you blacklist rt2870STA module.

Use ndiswrapper 1.9 to install driver then used > System > Administration > Network to configured this wireless device. One may use ndiswrapper with the Windows driver from linksys but not the version for Vista.

Ndiswrapper needed plus command line hack. Just choose wireless network in networking, and works. Just plug in, choose wireless network in networking, and it works in Ubuntu 9.04. Requires latest Ralink RT3572 source drivers, modification instructions can be found here.Ĭard works well with windows driver (from CD) & ndiswrapper - the instructions here were simple and effective. The pre-configured driver package in that post has done this already. Basically the problem is although the adapter uses the RT2870 chipset, the Ralink drivers don't know it yet, so you have to add the name of the adapter and change a few variables to support WPA (the original Ralink driver's README gives instructions on the WPA stuff). Following the instructions at that post enabled the adapter and it works perfectly. Version1: Needed to modify the Ralink driver or simply use the modified-for-you version available at this post. In Ubuntu 10.04 The card works out of the box with the standard GNOME network manager. Card works well once the Broadcom firmware is installed WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx. This card type is very tricky to get working, must have drivers for the SPECIFIC version of the card. Following downloads and install, you should be up and running (note: you may also need to manually configure the network - enter SSID, WEP, DHCP setup or not, etc.)

Clicking through warnings re: closed-source/proprietary hardware should bring you options to download firmware updates. Hardware recognized immediately upon startup.

In Feisty installing Broadcom firmware here will get v.3 cards working. Built in driver works flawlessly with the 2.6.15 kernel. WPA works with ndiswrapper according to this howto: Ndiswrapper.Ĭouldn't get any of the windows drivers from to work (they don't have a version 3 one listed right now) but I tried the driver off the installation CD with ndiswrapper and it worked. To do this when Ubuntu starts, open the restricted drivers management and enable bcm43xx. Updating the firmware (link broken) fixes the problem. After setup completes, the card is shown in the network interfaces (as eth0, all hardware details are shown too), but the system is unable to activate it. Get recognized in the setup process, but unable to use it. Using WPA-PSK with distro's madwifi drivers connecting to Dlink di-624 version 3. "Link" light non-operable, but link established at 11 Mb/s. Card was detected and needed only to be set up in network-manager. Tested on Ubuntu 7.10 kernel version 2.6.22-14-generic. Then just reboot and run "gksudo network-admin" in console and configure eth0.ĭetected in Network Settings as eth0 and started working after WAP details were input. Be sure to include manfid and bind to orinoco_cs.

Run "cardctl ident" and add info to /etc/pcmcia/config under wireless network adapters section. I was asked to select the network to use (SSID) and the WEP password. After rebooting, I selected the network icon in the upper panel by right clicking. Works great out of the box in ubuntu 8.10.ĭetected in Network Settings as ath0 and started working after WPA was configured.Īfter installing the card, I had to enable "Broadcom STA wireless driver" in the hardware drivers manager. Also works with ndiswrapper.ĭetected in Network Settings as ra0 and started working after WAP details were input. Works with wl (may be flaky), but not b43. Can be setup easily under Intrepid 8.10, by first connecting to the internet (using a wired connection) and clicking System > Administration > Hardware Drivers, then activate the Broadcom B43 Wireless driver.
